Art Club

Where: Art Room

Info: In Art Club we will create small projects that challenge and develop our artistic and creative skills. Our biggest goal in the art club is to become better artists by trying new things. All materials are provided, and all skill levels are welcome!

 

Audio-Visual (AV) Club

Sponsor(s): Ms. Jones, Mr. Amica, Mr. Bredland, Mr. Sykes

When: Wednesday mornings @ 7:40 - 8:20 A.M.

Where: Media Center Broadcast Room

Info: We will be working as a team to introduce our students to technology-based communications and broadcast skills. Topics to cover: Photography, making Videos, Adobe Express, Broadcasting, and Podcasting. Limited space 30 students.
 

Cooking Club

Sponsor(s): Ms. Snead

When: Wednesday mornings @ 7:30 - 8:20 A.M. 

Max # of Students: 20

Info: Cooking club will explore culture and heritage through cooking! We will be learning cooking basics and incorporating social emotional education. Cost is $5 per students.

 

Gardening Club

Sponsor(s): Ms. Jones, Ms. Ahmad, Ms. Hare, Mr. Underwood 

When: Wednesday afternoons after bus call till 5:00 PM

Max # of Students: 20

Where: Media Center

Info: Garden Club will meet in the fall and spring to plant, weed, and add decorations to the Chesney garden. Students should come “dressed for gardening” on meeting dates (jackets, sweaters, no open-toed shoes, etc.). There may be garden workdays as needed on Monday, after school or family days occasionally on Saturdays.

 

Reader's Rally (4th and 5th Grade Only)

Sponsor: Ms. Jones

When: Monday mornings and Friday afternoons

Where: Media Center

Max # of students: 15

Info: Readers Rally is a quiz bowl style competition for students in grades 4 – 12.  Students read books from a predetermined list and answer questions about those books. Each Gwinnett County school may send one team of up to 10 players to the Readers Rally.

 

Sports Club

Sponsor(s): Coach Anderson

When: Wednesday mornings @ 7:40 - 8:20 A.M. 

Max # of Students: 30

Where: Gym

Info: Sports club is a bi-weekly club which will be hosted on Wednesday mornings. The premise is to introduce, participate, and teach students sports. Another essential teaching point will be sportsmanship. Some of the sports played will be soccer, basketball, volleyball, hockey, football, and lacrosse. Because of the physical nature of the club, it is very important to wear tennis shoes when they come to sports club.

 

Yoga & Mindfulness Club

Sponsor(s): Ms. Mathur 

When: Wednesday mornings @ 7:40 - 8:20 A.M. 

Max # of Students: 30

Where: Ms. Mathur’s Room 

Info: Students will engage in Yoga movements to help in body flexibility and mindfulness meditation to enable students to respond instead of react.
